Meet Your Instructor
Dr. Jeffery J Rutgard, MD, MS, is one of the most experienced humanitarian ophthalmologists in the United States, having dedicated his career to providing high-quality cataract surgery to underserved populations. With over 25,000 procedures performed over 300 mission trips on six continents, Dr. Rutgard brings invaluable insight and real-world experience to this training program. He is the founder of iSight Missions and actively mentors ophthalmologists in MSICS techniques for global impact. His unwavering compassion and dedication to caring for the poor have shaped his mission to train the next generation of humanitarian surgeons.
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™
This program is designed to meet the highest educational standards for surgical training. Participants who successfully complete the program will be able to claim up to 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ via the American Academy of Ophthalmology, enabling licensed medical professionals to fulfill their ongoing education requirements while advancing their surgical skills.
Beyond technical proficiency, our program emphasizes the profound impact that compassionate, patient-centered care can have on those in need. Cataract blindness disproportionately affects the most vulnerable communities, and through this training, we hope to inspire surgeons to dedicate their skills to bringing light and hope to those who need it most.

Online & In-Person
We provide online and facilitate hands-on surgical training led by expert instructor, Dr. Rutgard, using the most efficacious techniques. Our online course emphasizes practical skill development, allowing participants to understand Manual Small-Incision Cataract Surgery with step-by-step guidance through real-world cases. Every technique taught is validated, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
